Top 3 Samsung Galaxy S III Rumours that are NOT HAPPENING

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S III wireless charging system to work from 1-2 meters away | Android and Me.

Wow!!! The rumour mill is in FULL Swing!!!!

First of all – there is NOT going to be any charging system that works from 5 feet away.  At best there may be one that works when the phone touches a plate, and even that is doubtful.

SGS3 Rumours are flying left and right! Excitement for the SGS3 is at an all-time high!  This superphone is picking up crazy new features every other day.  Some of these technologies haven’t even been invented!

Here are my Top 3 Rumoured specs that are not going to be in the SGS3.

1. Water Resistant

2. Wireless Charging included*

3. 1920 X 1080 Resolution

I’m seeing the above 3 datapoints being written about everywhere, and in many cases as if it is already a known fact.  While I want to see cool features like that as much as anyone, come on, lets get realistic – no need to get ahead of ourselves!

* Qi capability could be built-in, which would make it the first major phone to come with it.

Google Play Store update version 3.5.15 Will Show Your Downloaded Apps History

“There is still no option to manually re-install all, or a select portion, of your apps, which would go a long way to building in the same functionality for non-root users as Titanium Backup does for root users.”

via Google Play Store updated to version 3.5.15, improves update menu and app review layout | MobileSyrup.com.

So this means Android is just one step away from replacing a key use of Titanium Backup.  I’m certain they will add the functionality to select a bunch of apps at a time from your ‘All Apps’ screen and batch reinstall all of them with one-click.

This is in general what Android should be doing… finding the best features in important apps and absorbing them into the native Android builds.

Nexus S ICS updates reportedly restarting in a few weeks | Android Central

Nexus S ICS updates reportedly restarting in a few weeks | Android Central.

So the Original Gangsta Nexus S is going to officially get its ICS in April?!?! This is more than 4 months after ICS officially was available to the public (Dec 8th 2011.)  I think this is completely unacceptable, Google!  They should apologize with a good explanation how such a massive failure happened!

Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G Release: Buy One or Wait For The Samsung Galaxy S3? – International Business Times

Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G Release: Buy One or Wait For The Samsung Galaxy S3? – International Business Times.

This article is very interesting to me because a number of items that I would still say are not known are referred to as a given.  More specifically:

2GB RAM

1.8 GHZ Dual Core Exynos 4212

4.6″ screen 1280 X 720

12 megapixel camera

I don’t think any of the above four specifications are known with certainty like the article suggests, but I’m very keen to see  how this turns out.  I’m sure they must be wrong on at least 2 of the 4 items!

ASUS confirms ‘Jelly Bean’ as codename for Android 5.0 – GSMArena.com news.

The ‘Jelly Bean’ name is official… though we all pretty much knew that after the jelly bean jar at MWC.  I was still hoping Google might name the next version of Android Jalebi!

Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom: ‘I’m no piracy king’

Camcorder Class video quality on SGS3?

“Samsung says that the S5K3H7 is scheduled for mass production next month. Might we see this beautiful sensor appear in the Samsung Galaxy S III? We can only hope.”

- Andrew Kameka, Androinica.com

“Consumers show a growing preference for high resolution image sensors with the diversity and qualities of DSCs on their mobile gadgets. Samsung’s advanced 8Mp imager is a good match for a diverse imaging experience and is expected to further expand Samsung’s leadership in CMOS based imaging technologies.”

- Taehoon Kim, VP of System LSI Sales & Marketing, Device Solutions, Samsung Elec.

via Samsung’s new CMOS has “camcorder-class video quality on mobile handsets”.

This is very interesting – if the SGS3 does come with this ‘S5′ camera module, that means spec-wise SGS3 camera will still be 8 megapixel, 1080P video at 30 fps which is same as SGS2 spec from a year ago!  That would be odd, as typically all major specs are upgraded.  In this case that would be fine as this S5 camera cmos seems significantly better overall.

When will we get 60 fps 1080P on our phones?
